COPD causes contractions of the muscle lining of the bronchial passages in the lungs. This narrowing of the airways is called bronchoconstriction.1 BROVANA is a beta2-agonist, which means that it targets receptors in your lungs that control these bronchial muscles.2 It helps relax the muscles around the bronchial airways, allowing air passages to widen and making breathing easier.3
BROVANA is known as a "maintenance" medication. Maintenance medications for COPD are taken consistently every day, usually for a long time, to keep your COPD symptoms under control.3 They help the muscles in your airways stay relaxed and control the chronic symptoms of COPD.3 Maintenance medications take a while to work and should not be used when you need quick relief of your symptoms.3
